Welcoming New Volunteers for a New Growing Season

Do you want to learn more about gardening and fruit tree care? Join the volunteers of The Ben Nobleman Park Community Orchard and help us care for our fruit trees and pollinator garden. Our stewardship day calendar for 2019 can be found below.

2019 is a special year for the volunteers of The Ben Nobleman Park Community Orchard. It is our orchard’s 10th anniversary and we have lots of reasons to celebrate.

Celebrating 10 Years in Our Community Orchard

Over the years we have harvested cherries, apricots, apples and plums, which is wonderful. But we have also gained so many more benefits from our orchard:

  • We have spent hundreds of hours outdoors, working with nature, learning more about gardening and fruit tree care.
  • We have build a small but mighty community of people who share a passion for gardening, trees, and for living a sustainable life.
  • In the last 10 years we have collectively spent hundreds of hours making our park more beautiful and fruitful.

Our Growing Adventures in 2019

Now that our orchard is more established, our challenge as the years go on is to care for more mature (and more fruitful) trees as well as for our beautiful pollinator garden.

With more volunteers we can consider integrating other plantings in our park, such as blueberries, currants or other edible plants.

We’re also hoping to organize more community events in the park for children and adults – including apple tastings, yoga days, folk dancing or educational events.

Are you interested in working with us to take our orchard park to the next level? We’re looking for volunteers who are interested in gardening and tree care, harvesting and event planning.
