Come and learn about growing fruit in the city!

Ben Nobleman Community Orchard is pleased to participate for the third year in LEAF’s ever-popular Edible  Tree Tour on Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Join our knowledgeable leaders by meeting in the Orchard, located across from Eglinton West subway station, and discover the countless edible treats that await you during this walking tour of Toronto’s urban forest.

If you haven’t been to the Orchard, here’s the perfect opportunity to see it with Susan Poizner of Growing for Green, one of the original founders. Laura Reinsborough from Not Far From The Tree will also be on hand to talk about urban harvesting. Learn how to uncover delectable edibles in unexpected places with LEAF’s Amanda Gomm, and glean great foraging tips and tricks from Forbes Wild Foods.

This year, the tour starts and ends in our Orchard. Please join us following the event as some fruit tree snacks will be served, and Forbes Wild Foods will have some of their jellies and syrups available for tasting and sale.
In the past, the tour has hosted 115 people – so registration is recommended and can be done by visiting LEAF’s website at to reserve your spot. A suggested $5 donation will be collected at the tour to help offset some of the expenses. We look forward to seeing you then!
