Coming up on Sept 21 and 22: Rosh Hashana Market in the Orchard

Come and participate in an apple tasting, orchard tours and lots more in midtown Toronto’s Ben Nobleman Park Community Orchard.

Do you know the difference between a McIntosh apple and a Silken Apple? What about between a Honeycrisp apple and a Ginger Gold? Come to join the volunteers of the Ben Nobleman Park Community Orchard at the upcoming Rosh Hashana Market in Ben Nobleman Park on September 21 and 22 from 10 am to 4pm.

Participate in a free apple tasting session during the Rosh Hashana Market in Ben Noblmean Park Community Orchard on September 21 and 22, 2019 between 10 am and 4pm. We will have tastings of McIntosh, Honeycrisp, Silken, Ginger Gold and Gala.

Crabapple Bounty and Apricot Blues.

This has been an incredible year for crabapples in Ben Nobleman Park Community Orchard. Our one Dolgo crabapple produced a heavy harvest this year. Photo credit: www.orchardpeople.com.

Our crabapple tree in Ben Nobleman Park Community Orchard is very loved – but often forgotten. It is hidden away high on a berm where we don’t always notice it. But this year Sherry decided to meander up to the park to check on all the trees and saw the crabapple tree was ripe for picking!

Orchard Adventures 2019

Gail tackles weeding the green roof on top of our orchard tool shed. Just one of the many activities the bustling volunteers of Ben Nobleman Park keep busy with on weekend mornings.

This weekend, while we were working in the pollinator garden, a passerby stopped me to comment on our work.

“You all are always so busy and industrious! Thank you for doing all you do to make the park so beautiful!”

We chatted and as it turns out, she would be interested in joining us in the park on our stewardship days. Only she goes to synagogue on Saturdays when we are working.
