It may look good enough to drink…but no one in the Ben Nobleman Park Community Orchard was rushing to take a sip from these jars filled with a thick cocoa-coloured slurry inside.
That’s because these jars were filled not with coffee or chocolate milk. Instead they were a mix of soil, water and soap! After a morning of weeding and mulching, Leah led us in this soil texture testing experiment.

On the second 2022 stewardship day in Ben Nobleman Park, we were a team on a mission. In addition to caring for our fruit trees and pollinator garden, our goal was to hunt down and destroy any garlic mustard plants we found growing in our park.

It’s April 9th and today was the first Ben Nobleman Park Community Orchard stewardship day for 2022. It’s a little early and a little muddy in the park, so today we cleaned up a winter’s worth of litter.
We also took the time to celebrate since our team was recently nominated for a community hero award! Our provincial MPP Jill Andrew asked members of the community to nominate individuals and groups who make this community a better place and we were glad to be included!
